Who should do this course?
Persons who need to work on a construction worksite and require the mandatory OHS induction training certificate/card issued by Workcover
What does the course cover?
The course covers the knowledge necessary to work safely in the building and construction industry. It covers OHS regulations, risk management, OHS communication and incident response. A total of six face to face hours
What are the entry requirements?
No formal entry requirements. However, year 10 or equivalent or 1 years industry experience. You will require language and literacy skills outlined below.
What are the language and literacy skills required?
Medium level of mathematical skill equivalent to year 10. Medium to high command of English. Contact our office for further information and assistance with meeting these requirements
Recognition of prior learning/competencies
As an RTO we recognize that you may have skills and competencies that align with the learning criteria of this qualification. You need to speak with a trainer to obtain further details of the RPL process. If you have completed other units of competencies from another qualification, these may be used to provide you with credits for this qualification provided they align with the learning outcomes. Please call our office for further information.
What are the career prospects?
Once you have completed this unit of study, you would have a one unit credit towards the CPC10108 Certificate I in Construction. This can lead to further qualifications in construction at certificate II, III or IV level.
Can I get recognition of my existing skills?
Yes. As a registered training organisation, we recognize prior qualifications and learning skills. Please contact us to discuss this option.
What are the assessment requirements?
In order to complete the certificate, you need to complete an oral question and answer assessment as well as through observation by the assessor during the training.
How long does the course last?
The course of study takes six hours face to face. It is not available on-line
What do I need to bring with me on the day?
You will require to have 100 points of identification from two categories. Primary ID includes one of the following; passport, birth certificate or Australian citizenship certificate. Secondary ID includes a motor vehicle license, rate notices, bank statements, etc. Please contact us for further information on secondary ID requirements.
Is this course Workover approved?
Yes. Workcover will issue you with a white card indicating you have completed the unit.
