Where will the course be run?

Full time at our skills centre at 10/364 Park Road Regents Park Sydney, next to Regents Park Railway station

Who should do this course?

Existing construction workers who require their existing skills be recognized within this qualification. Persons who may be considering entering into the construction industry who have no relevant qualifications (you will need access to a construction workplace site in order to have most of the assessments tasks assessed on-site) Existing construction workers or other persons considering undertaking an apprenticeship in the near future who want to gain preliminary qualifications leading to the certificate III level.

What does the course cover?

The course covers the skills necessary to work on a construction site in the residential or commercial sector under supervision.

How will the training be delivered?

The training is completed full time at our skills centre in Regents Park.

Do I have to be an Australian citizen to enroll?

Yes, or a permanent resident

Is this qualification the same as a TAFE qualification?

Yes. BITAD is a national registered training organisation as are TAFE colleges. Graduates of the The Building Institute of Training and Development have the equivalent recognition of their certificate

What are the entry requirements

No formal entry requirements. However, year 10 or equivalent or 1 years industry experience. You will require language and literacy skills outlined below.

What are the language and literacy skills required

Medium level of mathematical skill equivalent to year 10. Medium to high command of English. Contact our office for further information and assistance with meeting these requirements

What are the career prospects?

Graduates of the Certificate II in Construction will gain recognition for completed units in their qualifications in apprenticeships in traditional trades. This qualification also leads to the Certificate III in a specific trade after which you would be eligible to undertake a Certificate IV or Diploma in Building and Construction.

Can I get recognition of my existing skills?

Yes. As a registered training organisation, we recognize prior qualifications and learning skills. Please contact us to discuss this option.

What other qualifications does the Certificate II in Construction lead to?

Credit in certificate III in a recognized trade, Certificate IV and/or Diploma in Building and Construction

What are the time restrictions?

You must complete the course within one year.

What are the assessment requirements?

In order to complete the certificate, you need to complete short answer questions, case studies, final exams and completion of third party reports. You will also be required to be assessed at the skills centre for your practical subjects and complete workbooks.

Do I need access to a workplace to complete this qualification?

No. You can complete this at our skills centre

To complete the Certificate II in Construction participants will be required to complete 9 core units and 6 elective from the following (total hours = 340)
