Terms and Conditions
1. Pre-Enrolment
It is essential that you have read , understood and accept the workplace requirements of the course you wish to enrol into which is explained on the BITAD website under the heading of Pre-Enrolment Info and Workplace requirements section. It is also essential you read the Builders Licensing requirement under the heading of Pre-Enrolment Info on BITAD’s website.
2. Enrolment
All participants are to complete the enrolment form for all nominated courses. The form must be completed in full and signed. Participants will be formally notified of the result of their enrolment within 7 days before the start of the course. Appeals for enrolment decision can be made in writing and addressed to the Manager. The Manager will advise the decision appeal within 14 days of receipt.
3. Course Fees
Course fees are listed on BITAD’s website and enrolment forms and are inclusive of taxes and charges. Course fees are to be paid prior to the commencement of the course. A receipt will be provided for all course fees. Please check to ensure that the fees for your required courses are correct. If you find that there are any discrepancies, please notify the administration section as soon as possible. Course fees are subject to change at any time without prior notice and are updated on our website and the enrolment form.
4. Course Completion
The Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) and Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) is to be completed within two years of each enrolment.
Once a student has been identified as having completed all components of their enrolled course and all of their results have been recorded, their file is then deemed ready for Audit process. This process may include a telephone interview with the student to confirm the identity of the student and to clarify their knowledge received from the course. The Audit process may take up to 30 days after which a Certificate for the qualification is issued.
5. Deferrals and Withdrawals
Students may defer their course from 6-12 months without incurring any additional cost under certain circumstances that affect the student s studying such as going overseas or serious illness etc. subject to approval and discretion by BITAD. Students must notify BITAD in writing and the deferral option can only be taken once during the enrolled course. BITAD may request supporting documents to be attached for deferral by students. During the deferral period the student is not permitted to carry out any course work and it will not be assessed.
Students who enrol and cannot continue with the course may be eligible for a refund according to the Refund Policy.
6. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer
As an RTO we recognise that you may already have previous experience and competencies relating to the course you are applying for. If you are applying for recognition of prior learning, then please contact BITAD to complete the RPL application after you have enrolled to assess it against the course competencies. Students have 2 months from the date of enrolment to submit all substantiating evidence and certified copies of documents for their application. Please contact us for further information.
As an RTO we recognise qualifications and statement of attainments issued by other RTOs. The process enables a candidate to receive direct credit transfer from BITAD for credentials recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework which are issued by another RTO and is a condition of AQTF. Students have 2 months from the date of enrolment to submit certified copies of Statement of Attainment or Certificates for an application for credit transfer.
7. Refund Policy-Online Students
Any application for refund must be made in writing to BITAD and will take effect from the date applied in writing. The Refund Policy in place at the time of the application for refund will be effective.
- ·Government Funded Students are not eligible for a refund.
- ·If you have not contacted BITAD or have not submitted any work within a 6 month period, you will not be eligible for a refund.
- ·If you withdraw after 12 months from start of course including any deferral time, you will not be eligible for a refund.
Online Students who do not fall into the above 3 categories will receive a partial refund of their course fees on the following basis:
- · If you withdraw within 21 days of receiving your Log-in details being e-mailed to you:
- You will receive a refund less a $500 administration charge.
- ·If you withdraw after 21 days of receiving your Log-in details being e-mailed to you:
- Those students who are paying by stage payments will not be eligible to a refund.
- Those students who have paid in full and are into Stage 1 of their studies will receive a refund, less the Stage 1 payment.
- Those students who have paid in full and are into Stage 2 of their studies will receive a refund, less the Stage 1 and 2 payments.
- Those students who have paid in full and are into Stage 3 of their studies will not be eligible for a refund.
Once a refund has been approved by the Manager of BITAD a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the Student. The refund will normally be processed within 30 days of receipt of the Students reply to this e-mail.
(The CEO may approve a partial refund to students in extenuating circumstances. In this situation evidence may be required).
This Refund Policy is subject to change at any time without prior notice and is updated on our website at http://www.bitad.edu.au .
8. Refund Policy-Face to Face Students
Students refund policy for Face to Face delivery:
- If the course is cancelled by BITAD prior to start date- a full refund is provided.
- If students withdraw after starting the course- no refund will be provided.
- If students withdraw prior to the course- a refund less admin fee of 50% of the enrolment fee will be provided.
9. Complaints and Appeals
BITAD recognises that differences may arise from time to time. The quick settlement of these matter is in the best interests of all parties concerned and the following steps are implemented to ensure this happens:
- Please advise us in writing if you are dissatisfied or have any concerns about our products, services, processes or policies.
- Tell us if you think you have been treated unfairly or unjustly.
- BITAD manager will fully investigate all written complaints/appeals and report the outcome to you.
- If you are not satisfied with the resolution we will refer the matter to an independent mediator.
- If a satisfactory solution cannot be reached by all parties you have the right to seek representation and appeal under the relevant State or Federal Law.
Appealing an Assessment Decision:
- If you disagree with your results you can appeal against the decision and ask to be reassessed by another assessor at a time to be negotiated. You have three months from the time your results are posted to you in which to do this. Talk to your tutor or contact BITAD for assistance.
10. Privacy
All information collected by BITAD about clients, students or trainees is only for the purpose of:
- Maintaining accurate and complete training records for 30 years in accordance with our commitments as a RTO approved by VETAB; and
- Providing an efficient training and reaccreditation service for all our Regulated agents and Clients.
- BITAD will not release information about any client, student or trainee and will keep it confidential and protected under the NSW Privacy Act except where required by law it may be made available to the Australian government and designated authorities.
- Where State and Commonwealth funding supports training, BITAD is obliged to submit your personal and progress details for research, statistical analysis, program evaluation, post completion survey and internal management purposes.

11. Conduct and Ethics
Our Responsibilities:
BITAD believes that the professional, ethical and equitable conduct of our staff and representatives is of the utmost importance. Our legal and organisational responsibilities are documented in all workplace agreements and policies. These documents are available upon request

Your Responsibilities:
BITAD is an RTO and as such subject to and bound by different laws and regulations, please make yourself aware of the different legislations by reading our Participants handbook which is available from our website. As part of participation in BITAD, our students/clients have the following responsibilities:
You must
- Follow the progression policy guidelines
- Be responsible for your work until you are notified that BITAD has received it.
- Follow the code of conduct guidelines for Learning and Assessments.
- Adhere to the documents signed on enrolment and the terms and conditions of BITAD.
You must not
- By action, words or inferences discriminate against, harass, mislead or endanger another person.
- Plagiarise work or falsely represent work as your own for gain.
- BITAD reserves the right to terminate the student’s/client’s enrolment and participation in a course if found to be breach of but not limited to above responsibilities.
12. Disciplinary Procedure
BITAD has disciplinary procedures in place that are made to discourage student misconduct. Student misconduct could lead to actions such as exclusion of the student from enrolment for a period of time and/or a record of non completion of the unit requiring a resubmission of the unit assessment. Some examples of student misconduct are but not limited to:
- Plagiarism
- Copying of another students work
- Assignment completed by someone other than the student
- A false declaration by the candidate on assessment
- Breach of discrimination and harassment, grievance policy & procedure as outlined in the BITAD Participants handbook.
